Lewiston, Maine
pic by the Lewiston Sun-Journal
You would think it would be easy to find info about this pic. I did. Boy was I WRONG!! I have NO idea why this picture was taken. And it is bugging the crap out of me!! I have tried the Sun-Journal...nothing, the historical society (a few)....nothing! Libraries and a few other people and places ALL NOTHING!! Ughh...I need somebody to happen to see this post and know something about it and that's NOT gonna happen either! I guess I'll keep trying and hoping for a miracle!!

UPDATE I have finally got the info on why the picture was taken!

I believe the above explains the reason the picture was taken.

Old friends....

So on the back of some of my grandfathers pictures I have, there are names. Actually only like 2 pictures! Lol...but it would be interesting to find anyone of them none the less. I'm am aware that this probably won't happen but I've got some hope that it may. I don't have a clue where the first picture below was taken but the names on the back are Sgt. Murtock S.I.B., Sgt. Ralph Miller - Colorado, Mrs. Murtock - English, (I'm guessing England?) Flight Sgt. Dunlop - Scot, (tish?) Sgt. & Mrs. Wilson Arkansas & England. IF ANYBODY knows any of these people please message me! I would LOVE to hear from you..even if it's a small something or maybe you think it was so long ago it wouldn't matter? I would still like to hear from you. I also am posting some other pictures that I think are around the same time. And looks like a few of the same people. If not and you know who they are I would love to hear from you as well!! Anyways...I'm really hoping whoever is reading this you enjoy the pictures I know I do, even if I don't know who they are.

Where do I start??

I'm mainly making this blog to share stuff of my late Grandfathers days in the service. He served from about 1931 to 1976.  He served  over 40 years in the Army and also as a civilian who worked for the Army.  He started in Washington National Guard was in WWII and the Korean War. He also served as a MAAG Taiwan around 1956-1957. He worked at ACAN in Davis, CA for some time then on over to the Army Base Sacramento where he retired from.  When I was a kid I would hear my Grandfather talk about his day in service, but never really paid much attention. Oh how I wish I would have!!  I wish I could go back and ask him SO MANY questions!  The things I have found and the pictures I have of his leave wanting to know and more and so I go searching to find what I can. It's been no easy task!! So if you who are reading this happen to have ANY knowledge please do share!! Well..I hope you enjoy the pictures!!
